Deepti Pillai, a person with a whole lot of creative skills, is the principal architect at Degasi architecture, established in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Born and raised in Mumbai and a native of Alleppey, Deepti has been working in this field for around 9 years now with works executed in and out of Kerala.
Her first work, while still as a student of 4th year B.Arch, was a luxury high budget flat interiors in Mumbai which came out as a boost in her confidence to pursue and specialize in interiors for future line of work. Even while doing her internship, she was hired at a salary scale by a known firm in Mumbai, instead of the otherwise practice of stipend offered to trainees. This happened as a blessed combo as she recalls her freelance work while being a student and her experience in getting projects finished successfully at a student age made her seniors have confidence in her, for them to entrust bigger works which she managed to design and make it reach fruition.
While being a student in the medical field is when she simultaneously gave an attempt for national architecture entrance and got cleared and from there her story of life as an architect begins. Deepti says, “I look forward to projects which are challenging and require creative thinking”. She enjoys doing anything which involves design and creativity. Being very artistic at heart , she loves to get indulged in anything and everything, which involves action, creation and inspiration. She also is a TV Anchor. She has done many programs for leading Malayalam channels like Asianet , Surya, Amrita, Jaihind, ACV , Zee TV and Rosebowl.
Around 90 projects have been completed which includes from designing houses to interiors to residential and commercial projects. Currently her “Team Degasi” is hands full with over 20 ongoing projects. The present pandemic has made it difficult to accommodate projects outside Kerala .So her travel schedule is locked for now. Dealing with only projects within Trivandrum for a few months now till all back to normalcy.
