He has worked in a variety of projects ranging from commercial, residential and interiors all over Kerala. He says, “ As an architect who enjoys the challenge of spaces and structures made to improve the clients’ quality of life aligning to a sustainable living concept, I try to bring the best possible solutions through a design process that uniquely addresses each project.”
Ar. Meghna, is a B.Arch graduate from School of Architecture and Planning, Govt.Engineering College Thrissur, in 2015. She completed her Masters in Urban Planning from NIT Calicut in 2021. She adds that a yin and yang approach of balance is required in every design process as they should coexist with the natural world sustainably.
Both the architects love working on all styles of architecture, be it traditional or contemporary. For them, it is not the style that matters but the project satisfaction. They have been involved in the architectural space since 2011 completing 10-15 projects all over Kerala and are committed to 25 projects. About the project:
The two storied residence planned for 3 Brothers amidst their family owned coconut grove in Kanhangad,Kasaragod district in kerala is built in an area of 2750 sq.ft on a linear 22 cents of land. The planning is done to retain as many as lush and tall coconut trees as possible. The entry to plot is alongside a major irrigation canal in the locality with lush vegetation leading to a large driveway and a very minimal porch area aimed to reduce the cost of an extravagant porch. The wide sitout entry, planned under the stair landing area opens up to a double height slope roof living room with a gable window for ambient lighting. The compact staircase and stair court near the main door adorns the room’s ambience. The heart of the design is the centrally planned dining room overlooking the central verandah and side courtyard green space .The ground floor consists of a well planned and efficiently sized 2 bedrooms and a kitchen+work area. The staircase leads to a large landing area (above sitout and main door) leading to an upper sitting area and a common balcony with tiled sloping roof. One among the 2 bedroom on the upper floor is planned with a balcony in the north overlooking the front canal and road entry .
The project is in a mix of contemporary and traditional slope roof architecture. It explores the opportunity of minimal approach and maximum utility in every square feet but delivering a serene luxury output . This home ‘Brothers abode’ has become a dwelling cherished by the close knit family of the three brothers for whom the house was designed.
